Eva-Maria Grote successfully completed her doctorate on the topic of "Systematics for the development of company-specific role models for advanced systems engineering" under the supervision of Professor Dr. Roman Dumitrescu.
Summary of the doctoral dissertation:
The increasing complexity of technical systems and the dynamics in development organisations place new demands on the design of roles and responsibilities in product development. Traditional job descriptions and hierarchical structures are increasingly reaching their limits in modern, interdisziplinär contexts such as Advanced Systems Engineering (ASE). Role models offer the potential to make development processes more flexible, transparent and efficient.
A comprehensive system was developed for the development of a context-adapted role model in ASE. This includes a meta-model for the structured description of the understanding of roles, a process-orientated framework, methodologically sound design knowledge for role profiles and a generic role model in ASE. This is supplemented by a customisable process model that enables companies to systematically derive a company-specific role model. The system supports the development of context-related role profiles along specific process steps and promotes the explicit design of interfaces and responsibilities.
The applicability of the system was validated as an example in three industrial companies. This confirmed its practical relevance in terms of adaptability, depth of integration and feasibility. Methodologically, the work is based on the Design Science Research Methodology (DSRM), which ensures a well-founded classification in design-oriented research in the context of technical organisational development.
