Use of the information pillar

How can I have a picture placed on the information pillar in the entrance?

The easiest way to place images or a presentation on the information pillar is to send the file with all the necessary information, including the date and time of the broadcast and the time between the individual slides, to Kerstin Hille or, if she is not available, to Justus Feldmann (Mondays to Wednesdays).

Please note: In order to be reproduced without distortion, images and presentations must be 768x1360 and have a resolution of 72 dpi.

Users of the Info Moderators group can edit appointments for the info column themselves. Users of the Info Moderators group must always log in to the Paderborn University domain.

The following applies to all info moderators who use Windows:

As soon as you log on to a Heinz Nixdorf Institute computer in the Paderborn University domain, you already have access to the network resource T:\welcome on Infosaeule. If this is not the case, connect via Extras > Network drive and enter the following under Folder: \\infosaeule\welcome; then click Finish. In the root directory you will find the planner and other applications of the info column. Templates for the HNI specialist groups are available in the Presentation documents folder.

Please note

  • Files that are placed on the info column have a standardised name structure -> DDMMYYYYY_AG_Titel an example 01072010_RB_Test.pptx.

  • The InfosaeuleStandartPPT.pptx appointment must not be deleted as this is the standard display. All appointments are placed above this display.

  • If there are two appointments at the same time, please contact the persons named above.

Proceed as follows:

  1. Start the planner.exe.

  2. Enter a new appointment by clicking on the "New entry" symbol. (For further information, see the enclosed PDF file "3.Remote and create appointment" in the root directory).

  3. Select the file to be displayed.

  4. Click on "Media file (PowerPoint, video,...)".

  5. Set the desired time.

  6. Upload a media file. (When you are asked whether you want to copy the file to the root directory, click YES to continue).

  7. Under Display mode, select: "File as full screen".

  8. Save the appointment.

Please note: Images and presentations must always run in full screen mode, otherwise white borders will appear.

This applies to all Info presenters who use a different operating system:

Please connect remotely to the access computer of the info column "Dot":, it has the IP 131.234.91.149. On the desktop you will find the corresponding shortcut of the planner. Here you can create an appointment as described in the instructions "3. Create remote and appointment". You can find the file via the desktop under S:\welcome. Please note that images and presentations should always be run in full screen mode, otherwise white borders will appear.
