Seminar Applied Model-Based Systems Engineering

Key Facts:

Type: Seminar

Language: English

Cycle: Annually in the summer semester

Study programme: Master

Target group: Computer science, computer engineering and mechanical engineering students

Aim of the course:
The aim of this seminar is to solve a complex engineering problem through a comprehensive application of methods, tools and languages of Model-Based Systems Engineering. Participating students will learn and apply topics on problem understanding, systems thinking, system design and essential analysis methods for system design. The focus is on multidisciplinary, software-intensive systems.

Target group:
The course is aimed at students on the Master's degree programmes in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Prerequisite for participation in the seminar is the successful completion of the lectures Systems Engineering and Model-Based Systems Engineering.

Content:
This is an interdisciplinary seminar from mechanical engineering and computer science. Students work together in a small team and solve a complex engineering task. The specific problem dealt with in the seminar varies each semester. Students learn to communicate together and apply systems engineering methods. In addition, students learn the project management toolbox and other soft skills such as presentation and communication as well as working in interdisciplinary teams.

The seminar is organised in cooperation with the TU Berlin. Students also learn about virtual multidisciplinary collaboration, which takes place remotely and online.
