Systems engineering and development management

If you want to inspire the end customer with a product innovation, you need to find out how the product is used, the prevailing boundary conditions and the profile of the target buyer group using application scenarios. These application scenarios are provided as input for product development.

Once the boundary conditions, target costs and time of market entry have been assumed, they are regularly subjected to premise controlling so that any necessary changes can be recognised and taken into account at an early stage.

With development methodology mechatronics and development management, we provide tools for the functional and production-related realisation of complex overall technical systems. We link the various specialist disciplines with development methodology approaches such as the V-model for mechatronic and cyber-physical systems and systems engineering. Our main focus is on the effectiveness and efficiency of development and production processes.

Systems engineering and development management support the effective and efficient development of products. We want to inspire the end customer with a product innovation, so application scenarios must be used to find out how the product will be used, the prevailing boundary conditions and the profile of the target buyer group. These application scenarios are provided as input for product development.

In our research, we provide tools for the functional and production-related realisation of complex overall technical systems. We link the various specialist disciplines with development methodological approaches such as the V-model for mechatronic and cyber-physical systems and systems engineering. The main focus is on increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of development and production processes. Our industrial applications show that this opens up optimisation potential of up to 30 percent in terms of costs and throughput times.

Our courses familiarise students with various methods and tools for systematically supporting the development process. We establish a direct link to use cases and combine the most important aspects of theory and practice. Project seminars, for example, offer the opportunity to solve specific industrial problems. In this way, we lay the foundation for a pronounced problem-solving ability and create the prerequisites for successful utilisation in science and industry.
