ChatGPT, Dall-E and co. are already changing the way companies work. Generative and multimodal artificial intelligence will have an impact on almost every industry in the foreseeable future. The WestAI AI Service Centre, in which our "Communications Engineering" workgroup is involved, provides support for the use of artificial intelligence in practice. From the provision of AI expertise and initial advice on AI ideas and their feasibility testing to research cooperation and access to AI models and state-of-the-art AI computing resources - WestAI offers a wide range of AI services:
AI consulting
In the AI Concept Check initial consultation, WestAI evaluates the feasibility of specific ideas for AI projects, assesses research trends, checks data requirements and outlines the next steps for implementation.
AI hardware
WestAI offers access to the AI computing resources of RWTH Aachen University and Forschungszentrum Jülich. Whether for prototyping, experimental developments, research or commercial use - depending on the application, between 1,000 and 10,000 GPU hours are available free of charge.
AI training courses
We also offer a wide range of AI training courses. The training programme provides practical knowledge about artificial intelligence - from a basic introduction to AI tools and prompt engineering to certified training for data science experts.
AI test platforms
The LLM.Lab enables the comparison of large language models for specific use cases - securely and in compliance with data protection regulations. In the AI.Lab, AI solutions can be customised and developed to meet specific company needs.
The project is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMBF). Other cooperation partners in the joint project are the German Aerospace Centre (DLR), the Jülich Research Centre, Aachen University of Technology and the University of Bonn. Thanks to the funding, WestAI can currently offer the services free of charge. The project will run until December 2025.
