Analyzing AAS lifecycle data, making it usable in the #data room, and combining it with AI-based optical inspections—to this end, students in the “Digital Factory” project lab, led by Dr.-Ing. Jens Pottebaum, Thomas Hesse, and Carmen De Groote, have developed an assistance system for inspection in the disassembly process. Using computer vision approaches, large language models, and data from a data room such as ManufacturingX, they analyze the product condition of a model helicopter: modified, dirty, stuck together – the AI recognizes the specific condition of the product. After four weeks of intensive work, the students present a system to support the inspection process. From data retrieval and fault image recognition to assistance chat with the LLM – the system works!
