Every year, the Heinz Nixdorf Institute welcomes numerous new academic staff. The "Get to know HNI" is an opportunity for them to get to know the institute and the work of all the specialist groups better. An exciting and varied program once again awaited the newcomers at the 8th edition.
The event kicked off on Thursday morning with an official welcome from the Chairman of the Executive Board, Prof. Dr. Eric Bodden. Afterwards, the professors from the individual work groups presented their scientific focus areas and gave more detailed insights into their research. Participants were able to organize the afternoon according to their own interests and choose between various parallel workshops that addressed current projects and topics of the work groups. The aim is to strengthen interest in interdisciplinary work within the institute.
This year, the "Advanced Systems Engineering" workgroup presented to participants how artificial intelligence can be used in systems engineering. In addition, the employees were able to gain an insight into the laboratory of the "Circuit Technology" workgroup. The "Product Creation" workgroup introduced innovative methods of product creation. "Applied Ethics - Technology Ethics" offered the opportunity to discuss ethical and philosophical issues on an HNF museum tour using exhibits.
The event gave participants a comprehensive insight into the research and work of our institute.
The eventful day was rounded off with a barbecue on the Paderwiese with all of the institute's employees. There, the guests had the opportunity to share their impressions of the day and make further contacts.
