 |  Heinz Nixdorf InstituteAdvanced Systems Engineering / Heinz Nixdorf Institut

In collaboration with Fraunhofer IEM and the five user companies Diebold Nixdorf, Isringhausen, WAGO, DMG MORI and Schmitz Cargobull, the product.intelligence research project is dedicated to the question: How can product management be improved on the basis of data?

The white paper sheds light on the transformative role of data-driven approaches in product management. It provides an overview of key product management topics and insights into how companies can be supported in optimising product management. The core topics are the presentation of 16 key roles in product management. In addition, digitalisation is highlighted as a key success factor, as it enables companies to optimise their decision-making and leverage potential along the entire product life cycle through the systematic use of data.

Overall, a vision of data-based product management is outlined in which well-founded decisions are made on the basis of various types of data and can be used in different areas of application - for example, when analysing the market or identifying new trends. Practical examples from user companies illustrate initial approaches to data-based product management that are currently being implemented. These range from the use of community feedback for innovations to precise cost forecasting using data analyses.

The white paper is aimed at product managers and executives who want to establish data-driven processes in their companies and offers valuable insights into the digital future of product management as well as initial points of reference for implementation.

The project coordinators Timm Fichtler (Heinz Nixdorf Institute) and Khoren Grigoryan (Fraunhofer IEM) are available to answer any questions and provide suggestions.
