Our two research assistants Lisa Petzke and Julia Marie Vehmeyer from the "Advanced Systems Engineering" workgroup attended various conferences in Japan in mid-March.

At the "CIRP Conference on Life Cycle Engineering", which took place from 11-13 March in Kamakura, they presented the following papers:

  • "The Fellowship of the Circle: Barriers to Establish Partnerships for Circular Value Creation" (lead author: Julia Vehmeyer)
  • "Organisational Capabilities for Implementing R-Strategies in Circular Value Networks" (lead author: Lisa Petzke)
  • "Identifying Cost Drivers in Circular Business Model Planning" (lead author: Anja Rasor, presented by Lisa Petzke)

The presentations deal with the obstacles that companies face when collaborating in the circular economy and the skills they need to implement circular strategies. The costs involved in introducing such business models will also be explained.

The following week, Lisa Petzke attended the CIRP Design Conference in Tokyo from 16-18 March.

There she presented the paper "Circular Business Innovation Types: Implications for Business Plans from a Multi-Case Study", which identifies four types of circular business innovation based on an analysis, derives concrete implications for business planning and offers companies strategic guidance for the transition to a circular economy.
