We are pleased to welcome Sebastian Mantsch as a new research associate in our workgroup "Philosophy and Ethics of Scientific and Technological Cultures".

Sebastian's research focuses on the results of his Master's thesis, namely the exploration of the concept of "Digital Availability" as part of the ERC project "Cultures of the Cryosphere". He is attempting to analyse how we have reached the point in society where permanent availability is regarded as the status quo. For example, the fact that we are always reachable or that information, services or goods are immediately available at the click of a button. He asks himself: "What has this done to our perception of time, and is this constant accessibility perhaps one reason why many people feel constantly stressed or rushed these days?"

In his free time, he does a lot of sport and enjoys going to the cinema and theatre. Sebastian is also a proud annual pass holder for theme parks and generally enjoys spending his holidays at Europa-Park and other amusement parks.

Welcome, Sebastian!
