Our specialist group "Philosophy and Ethics of Scientific and Technological Cultures" is growing!
Miriam Fahimi is an ethnographer and STS researcher investigating how AI and its infrastructures are shaping our world and how we can shape them for more just and sustainable futures. In her doctoral dissertation, she ethnographically explored how computer scientists in CS-led projects and credit bureaus attempt to develop fair and transparent AI, and how such solutions constitute new and intentional problems.
Miriam was a Marie Curie Fellow in the EU H2020 project NoBIAS - AI without Bias, a Fellow at CAIS (Center for Advanced Internet Studies) and at the Digital Due Process Clinic at Cornell University (US).
From October, she will be a postdoc at Paderborn University in the ERC project CryoCultures, where she will investigate the environmental and societal impact of data centres and their cooling infrastructures.
She likes to spend her free time on her bike, in the water, behind a book or with friends - mainly not in front of her laptop.
Welcome, Miriam!
