On 9 April this year, Heinz Nixdorf would have celebrated his 100th birthday. To mark this anniversary, the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the Paderborn University , in collaboration with the Heinz Nixdorf MuseumsForum, is presenting the ‘TalksHoch3’ lecture series from 7 to 9 October. On three consecutive evenings, visitors can look forward to concise and entertaining lectures that shed light on Heinz Nixdorf's knowledge and work in the fields of architecture, technology and sport. The events will begin at 7 p.m. each evening with a welcome address by Dr Jochen Viehoff, Managing Director of the HNF. The museum will be open on all lecture evenings until the start of the event. Admission is free from 5 p.m.
Architect Martin König will kick things off on Tuesday, 7 October, with a lecture entitled ‘Heinz Nixdorf as a visionary in architecture and construction.’ He will give guests an insight into Nixdorf's creative work and explain how his architectural visions shaped his era and how this era is still visible today in architecture and construction technology. In the preliminary programme, Paderborn-based poetry slammer Julia Kluge will set the tone for the topic with a piece entitled ‘Architecture with reference to the aesthetics of Nixdorf buildings – a poetry slam text’. Prof. Dr. René Fahr, Vice President for Transfer and Sustainability at the University of Paderborn and head of the ‘Behavioural Economic Engineering and Responsible Management’ workgroup at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute, will host the evening.
On Wednesday, 8 October, Dominik Hermelingmeier will open the second evening with the science slam ‘How a bollard explains Heinz Nixdorf's technology’. The scientist will then hand over the stage to Nikolaus Risch, Chairman of the Heinz Nixdorf Foundation, who will talk about ‘Heinz Nixdorf and the evolution of information technology: transforming a region.’ His presentation will show how Nixdorf's visions laid the foundations for the transformation of the rural Paderborn region. The evening will be moderated by Prof. Dr. Ansgar Trächtler, head of the ‘Control Engineering and Mechatronics’ department at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute at the University of Paderborn.
On Thursday, 9 October, the focus will be on Nixdorf's achievements that continue to shape sport in the region to this day. Sports scientists Lea Weike and Oliver Schlosser will kick off the third evening with their pitch ‘Sport with brains in the spirit of Heinz Nixdorf’. This will be followed by Prof. Dr. Dr. Claus Reinsberger, head of the Sports Medicine Institute at the University of Paderborn, who will talk about ‘Paderborn – a city of sport – unthinkable without Heinz Nixdorf?!’. Prof. Fahr will also host this evening.
