New products require not only technology, but also expertise: Annika Reich presented a “method for developing digital business models using customer data to increase value” at the VDI Automation 2025 conference. With the help of this method, companies can use key technologies such as augmented reality to generate customer data, for example on maintenance processes, and build an expanded value proposition in the form of customer-specific training data. In the KLUG project, the team from the “Product Creation” workgroup is using, among other things, the example of predictive maintenance, which manufacturers market as added value beyond the physical assets.
