From 18 to 21 November, Dr. Kevin Malena, post-doc and research assistant in our "Control Engineering and Mechatronics" workgroup, will be attending the "IEEE ITSC 2025 - The IEEE International Conference on Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITSC)" on the Gold Coast in Australia. There he will present his research paper entitled "ML-based Prediction Framework for varying Traffic Signal Control Strategies and its GLOSA-application".
The paper presents a predictive framework for analysing and predicting traffic conditions at signalised intersections in road traffic. Modern machine learning methods are used to precisely predict traffic signal phases and their signal plans. GLOSA applications are used as examples to demonstrate how the developed system can contribute to increasing efficiency and reducing emissions in intelligent traffic control.
At IEEE ITSC 2025, researchers, engineers, practitioners and students from industry, academia and government will be invited to present their latest work and discuss research and applications for intelligent vehicles and vehicle-infrastructure collaboration. The ITSC welcomes contributions from the field of intelligent vehicles, covering new developments in theory and application, vehicle technologies and demonstrations.
