From 22 to 25 June, the International Conference on Engineering, Technology, and Innovation (ICE IEEE/ITMC) took place in Porto, Portugal.
Our research associate Julia Vehmeyer from the “Advanced System Engineering” workgroup presented her paper “Forging the Ring: Collaboration Challenges and Tensions in Networks in the Circular Economy” at the conference. The paper addresses the challenges that can arise when collaborating within circular value creation networks. These challenges can be categorised into three areas: trust, collectivity and commitment. The paper demonstrates that successful collaboration depends on striking a balance between these three areas. The research was carried out as part of the CircuPEM project, which is co-funded by the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
ICE 2026 is an international conference on engineering, technology and innovation in Porto. It focuses on sustainable, competitive and resilient solutions for industry and society. Key areas of focus include artificial intelligence, digitalisation, the circular economy, renewable energies and resilient supply chains. The aim is to promote international exchange and collaboration between the research community, industry and policymakers.
