Our “Product Development” research group has completed three years of intensive research and practical application, during which it has investigated how extreme data and artificial intelligence can support decision-makers in extreme weather situations. With the successful evaluation by the European Commission, the Horizon Europe research project CREXDATA has now officially come to an end. The team from Paderborn University led by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Iris Gräßler and Dr.-Ing. Jens Pottebaum, together with Marcel Ebel, Niklas Döhner and Deniz Özcan, delivered decisive results: Our “Product Development” research group impressed stakeholders through its coordination of the use case in hazard mitigation, the implementation of the CREXDATA Prediction-as-a-Service platform, and the development of the overall exploitation strategy. The aim: to make AI applications in disaster management fit for purpose – for real-time, data-driven decision support. The results generated by the project now form the basis for further research in the field of security for our “Product Development” specialist group.
