In the CREXDATA project, our "Product Creation" workgroup worked with our partners to develop real-time algorithms for processing extreme data - with the aim of supporting decisions in flood and forest fire incidents. The decisive phase is now underway and the focus is on the practical benefits: during three days of workshops, management and emergency personnel from the Dortmund fire service put the new technologies to the test. Who remembers the heavy rain event at Euro 202024 - Germany beat Denmark in Dortmund? A concrete test scenario for the project: Marcel Ebel gave his opening situation presentation in the staff room of the Dortmund fire brigade and took the participants back to this situation, in which the weather forecasts kept changing in detail. The team led by Iris Gräßler with Niklas Döhner, Deniz Özcan and Jens Pottebaum concluded that the CREXDATA system would have provided valuable information to help them make even more confident decisions.
