Tentris, a spin-off company resulting from research at DICE, has secured pre-seed funding of two million euros.
Tentris emerged from many years of fundamental research carried out by the DICE Research Group at Paderborn University. The scientific work focused on investigating the equivalence of algebras for query processing. This laid the technological foundation for the company’s further development. Today, Tentris is developing TentrisDB, a graph database for the next generation of enterprise AI. The technology is designed to help companies perform efficient administration of complex data structures and make them usable for modern applications in the field of artificial intelligence.
This successful funding round marks an important milestone in the company’s development and, at the same time, underlines the potential that can arise from scientific research and its successful translation into innovative products.
The founding team at Tentris comprises Alexander Bigerl, Nikolaos Karalis, Tobias Rebert and Prof. Dr. Axel-Cyrille Ngonga Ngomo, head of our “Data Science” workgroup. The team is supported by numerous colleagues from the worlds of research, business and innovation funding.
The funding round is led by Bloomhaus Ventures AG. Other investors include Vanagon, āltitude, 10x Value Partners and Dr. Pascal Wichmann. The funding is supplemented by public innovation funding under the EXIST programme – Start-ups from Science – run by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
With this new funding, Tentris aims to drive forward the further development of TentrisDB and further expand its position in the field of graph databases and enterprise AI.
