Do data spaces actually support sustainable product engineering? These and other questions were discussed on 5th and 6th of November at a consortium meeting of the BMWE-funded research project Decide4ECO at the Heinz Nixdorf Institut. Our “Product Creation” workgroup held by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Iris Gräßler, worked with industry partners BOS, Sonova, and Hadi-Plast to discuss illustrative examples of applications for implementing the circular economy. IT partners Contact Software, Prostep and Nexpirit presented initial tool implementations for end-to-end sustainability assessments. The third project cycle, which has now begun, focuses on the flexibility of decision support – to continuously contribute to Manufacturing-X.
