Suzana Alpsancar, head of our specialist group "Philosophy and Ethics of Scientific and Technological Cultures", is organising an international workshop entitled "...never neutral': Practices, concepts and methods of evaluating technology over the last 50 years" together with the VDI and the Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte (GUG) from 18-19 June 2026 at the Deutsches Museum in Munich as part of the project "Future needs Origin - The VDI since the 1970s".
The aim is to analyse the practices, concepts, models and methods used by engineers, companies, politicians and other stakeholders to evaluate technologies. In addition, the relationship of this evaluation to institutionalised, political forms of technology assessment (TA) will be discussed - both in the past and in the present.
Interested parties can submit a proposal until 10 December 2025.
More details on the event and registration can be found here.
