Jannik Reinhold received his doctorate for the topic "Approach for a pattern-based transformation of value networks for smart services" under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Roman Dumitrescu. Congratulations!

Summary:

The convergence of servitization and digitalization results in digital services that are based on product data. These so-called smart services open up a wide range of business opportunities for manufacturing companies. However, successful business with smart services requires complex value networks that deviate significantly from the historically grown value creation situation of manufacturing companies. The adaptation of existing value creation to a smart service value network is a challenging endeavor for which manufacturing companies often lack design knowledge.

The goal of this dissertation is an approach for a pattern-based transformation of value creation for smart services. It enables manufacturing companies to align their value creation with a smart services business and to initiate the inevitable transformation. The approach is to be applied by the management of manufacturing companies involved in the service business and digital transformation. A value creation framework for smart service-specific value creation serves as the basis of the approach. Given design knowledge that makes the complexity of corresponding value creation systems manageable is based on proven solutions. The core of the approach is a cyclical procedure for the step-by-step transformation of the value network for smart services. Tools are to support its implementation.
