Priority Projects in Research

Interdisciplinary cooperation is of central significance for research activities at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute. Through the common efforts of computer scientists, engineers and economists, we are convinced that we can make an important interdisciplinary contribution to the solution of complex problems. Research projects spanning multiple disciplines therefore have particular importance at the Institute.

Special significance is placed on our
Collaborative Research Centres organized in connection with the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation):

As the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft states: "Collaborative Research Centres are research units of the universities organized for long-term projects in which scientists and scholars work together in the context of interdisciplinary research programs. […] Special Research Fields facilitate work on demanding, complex research initiatives conceived as long-term efforts through the concentration and coordination of forces present in the university."
