Universelle Entwicklungs- und Prüfumgebung für mechatronische Fahrzeugachsen.

Due to the expensive design process of mechatronic systems there exists a demand for flexible testing systems. An example is the development and testing of vehicle axles. To- day’s state of the art test rigs depend on specific time and cost consuming learning pro- cesses. Due to this fact they are not flexible and it is not possible to integrate active chassis management components as well as its electronic control units. The integration process of these systems uses model based methods, Hardware-in-the-Loop component tests and road trials. The application of Hardware-in-the-Loop-based techniques, involving a whole vehicle axle as the physical subsystem, can be used to make the test and develop- ment of control algorithms reproducible and efficient. Therefore a test rig was built up at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute which enables the multidimensional and high dynamic exci- tation of vehicle axles at its wheel carrier. The excitation is performed by a hydraulic hexapod. One of the crucial advantages of the test rigs actuation concept is its high feed- back control bandwidth of approx. 60 Hz, which makes the tedious iteration processes of today's test rigs dispensable. This article discusses the test rigs various application poten- tials. These range from fatigue limit tests over so called K&C-tests for the identification of the kinematic and compliant behavior to real time test of passive and active vehicle axles in a HiL-environment.
