Model-based potential analysis - Identification and elimination of weak points for effective and efficient development

The increasing complexity, the increasing competitive pressure and the multitude of parallel projects and tasks force companies like CLAAS Industrietechnik GmbH to structure their development more efficiently and effectively and to focus their processes on the essential development work. In doing so, problems and obstacles in daily development work were identified and eliminated in the project without extensive restructuring measures. The model-based potential analysis project identified weak points in the course of development projects and provided structured and prioritized information on how to remedy the problems at hand. In doing so, not only content-related and technical potentials were analyzed, but a special focus was also placed on procedural contradictions and communication problems. The project was carried out as a joint project between CLAAS Industrietechnik GmbH and the Heinz Nixdorf Institute. The internal initiative of CLAAS Industrietechnik GmbH was supported by the team of the chair for product development led by Prof. Dr.-Ing Iris Gräßler. The potentials, derived from joint workshops, were prioritized on the basis of developed criteria and the feasibility of possible solutions was discussed. For this purpose, the “low hanging fruits” -weak points, the elimination of which requires little effort and promises great benefits,- recommended for short-term elimination.
