We congratulate Stefan Peter to his doctorate

Stefan Peter has successfully passed his doctoral examination. He received his doctorate for the topic "Systematik zur Antizipation von Stakeholder-Reaktionen" under Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jürgen Gausemeier.

A company’s success largely relies on innovation. Basis for constant innovation is the strategic product planning. This requires strategic decisions on a regular basis. However, the success of decisions is heavily dependent on stakeholders’ reactions. The decision making process with regard to stakeholder-reactions is becoming increasingly complex: Branches are converging, new players enter the market. This leads to new value networks in which traditional rules and behaviors no longer apply. Future reactions are to be anticipated and analyzed in interdependence of each other. There is no methodological support for decision-makers involving stakeholder reactions in the strategic product planning.

Aim of this work is a methodology for anticipating stakeholder reactions in the context of strategic product planning. First, the decision framework is characterized. Relevant stakeholders in this context are identified and characterized. Therefore, their systemic behavior, their objectives and their power are analyzed. By using the scenario-technique possible reactions are anticipated. The stakeholder character determines the assignment of scenarios to the stakeholders. The system of interdependent reactions is solved in an agent-based simulation. It allows for testing decision options in advance. The result of the methodology is a recommendation for action regarding the decision framework.

The doctorate will be published soon as Volume 361 at the HNI-press.
