Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wilhelm Dangelmaier, born in 1949 has studied engineering at the University of Stuttgart. From 1973 to 1991 he worked at the Fraunhofer-Institut für Produktionstechnik und Automatisierung (IPA) in Stuttgart. He earned to doctorate in 1978 and a post-doctorate in 1985 at the Faculty for Product Engineering. The nomination to the apl. Professor occurred in 1990. Since 1991 he has been a Professor for Business Information Systems, specially CIM at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute and in the Department of Business and Human Resource Education of the University of Paderborn. In 1998 he founded the Fraunhofer-Anwendungszentrum für Logistikorientierte Betriebswirtschaft (ALB). He is a member of the board of Directors at the Heinz Nixdorf Institute, Paderborn Center for Parallel Computing (PC²) and University of Paderborn’s Graduate School of Dynamical Intelligent Systems. In 1985 he received the Joseph-von-Fraunhofer prize and in 1988 the ring of honor of the society of German engineers. In 1997 his working group gained the German award of science from the Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL). Since 2004 he has been member of the scientific advisory committee of the BVL. In July 2005 Prof. Dangelmaier was appointed into the senate of the DFG. Since 2008 he is member of acatech.
