Organic ORCOS

The ability of objects to evolve dynamically online has nowadays become a challenge for real time systems. We are developing an organic module which applies the concepts of organic programming on real time operating systems to enable objects that use these systems to adapt themselves online to new circumstances without violating the real time constraints. The module is able to be built on top of any real time operating system through a predefined interface in order to provide this system with an organic behavior as e.g., self-adaptability and self-management. The results of the previous approach will be evaluated by building the module on top of ORCOS, which is a highly customizable but easily configurable operating system developed at the University of Paderborn.

We are looking for a motivated student to work on this project as a student research assistant on a 19 hours per week basis.

The job includes:

  • -  Implementing the organic module

  • -  Implementing a predefined interface to run the module on ORCOS

    To accomplish the job, we expect:

  • -  A very good knowledge of C and C++

  • -  A basic knowledge of real time operating systems
