Abstract
Agents and Multi-Agent-Systems for solving transportation problems with capacity restrictions are related with a large amount of communication. In this paper we will use Petri-Nets to reduce the need for communication. Additionally, the Petri-Nets are used to model the concurrent aspects of a demand driven transportation problem. Finally, a tool using a combination of Petri-Nets and agents to simulate a transportation flow is introduced. One aspect of the simulation is to check the usability of the transportation net with all its concurrent processes. The other aspect is to simulate all relevant aspects of the transportation process itself. The tool, which is described in this paper, performs a distributed simulation.files
