Abstract

Modern telecommunications and network applications are increasingly characterized by close interaction between electronics, mechanics and optics. These applications are implemented in the form of spatial electronic devices. The challenge for development lies in the ability to integrate the components and devices spatially and functionally and to take account of production aspects from an early stage. Against this backdrop, this article introduces a development environment for spatial electronic devices. The development environment comprises a process model, a specification technique and a knowledge base.
