Adaptive Planning of Prodction Systems
PrintAdaptive Planning of Prodction Systems - Daimler AG
The reduction of fuel consumption in order to comply with the legal limit of 130 g/km for carbon dioxide emissions and the increasing number of variants due to customer’s individual requests are the main challenges for today’s automotive industry. The various solutions (on product side) for these problems, especially the use of light weight polymers and the modular architecture of new cars, cause other problems concerning the production process. For example, the existing production process has to be extended with new pre-assembly lines for the various modules. Furthermore, the paint process has to be adapted in order to be able to dry the new polymer components at lower temperatures than the metallic parts. But – because of the use of the paint shop for more than one car series – the new process also has to be compatible with the “old” material concepts.
In order to solve this complex planning problem, a new and systematic method, which includes technical security as well as a cost evaluation (depending on the unit sales), will be developed in cooperaertion with the Daimler AG. This method must allow an iterative refinement and has to be transferable to other planning problems as well.
